PLA (polylactic acid)
Polylactic Acid (PLA) is a polymer made from lactic acid, which is produced by fermenting sugars or starches. These sugars are typically sourced from corn or sugar beets, making PLA a renewable material (see Renewable Raw Materials). PLA is transparent like BOPP and PET, offers high water resistance, and provides a good gas barrier. As a film, it is easily recognized by its characteristic crinkling sound.
