Bio-based packaging material

Bio-based packaging material is made from raw materials that are directly or indirectly of natural origin, or from renewable resources. Examples include paper and wood. Several types of plastics (such as bio-PET and bio-PE) also contain biobased raw materials, such as those obtained from sugars from sugarcane and sugar beets. The term ‘biobased packaging’ is often used alongside ‘renewable resource.’ Not all biobased materials are biodegradable.
