Eddy Current
Eddy currents, also known as electrical eddy currents, are used to separate non-ferrous metals (such as aluminum) from a mixed stream of waste materials. Non-ferrous metals only exhibit magnetic behavior when an eddy current is induced within them. This technique is employed as a sorting method: the eddy currents lift the non-ferrous metals, directing them onto a separate conveyor. The machine used for this sorting process is also called an Eddy Current separator.
