Coating
A coating is an addition to the surface of a material layer. Characteristics:
- Usually has a thickness of a few nanometers (nm = 10⁻⁹ m).
- Does not form an independent material layer.
- Often used as a sealing layer, printing, or surface treatment.
- May consist of vapor-deposited materials, adhesive layers, or lacquers.
