Carbon black
Carbon black is a finely divided black pigment composed of elemental carbon. It is used as a deep black color or to increase the color intensity of a pigment mixture. It provides UV protection in applications such as inks, coatings, and plastics.
Carbon black absorbs near-infrared (NIR) radiation. Therefore, disposable units colored with carbon black are not easily recognized in a sorting facility because NIR scanners cannot read the reflected infrared rays.
